2020

I am in discussions about some very interesting projects for 2020 with bookings coming in quickly. If you would like to discuss a project, please do get in touch.

2019

I am currently series DOP on a new project in the States for another new SVOD, again under NDA, which is both obs doc and long lens filming.

In August I took a break from a very busy year to spend time with my family.

In July I was filming in the States again for a new SVOD under NDA, lots of macro work involved which I really enjoyed and managed to capture some fascinating behaviour on a miniature scale.

In May and in June I was filming in Romania for Vespa Films for NHK. We focused on a National park and the wildlife that lives there.

In March/April I was in the States filming fireflies again the project was under NDA as well. I took my new 4m motion control track and was able to get some great tracking shots both in real time and time-lapse.

In January/February I was filming in the mountains of Ethiopia, the project was for Neflix and is under NDA, so I can’t say much, but it was fantastic to be back in this stunning country. I had my Inspire 2 drone with X7 camera which delivered fantastic images as always. The main camera was Red Gemini, and I also had an EVA1 on my Ronin set up.

2018

Delighted that Serengeti Rules won best theatrical Film at Wildscreen ‘18. It was a great project to work on, I was lucky to do the Peru and Alaska shoots, with two incredible scientists. You can see the trailer here www.theserengetirules.com

My latest project is in Madagascar for True To Nature, where I have been using my Inspire 2 and X7 s35mm camera. I also had a Phantom 4k to capture the lemurs in super slow motion.

In July I was working in Turkey, for OTF featuring the varied and unusual wildlife of this diverse country; brown bears, fishing owls, turtles and more

After Brazil I went straight to Mexico for another shoot that I have been asked not to talk about, some new behaviour using some exciting new kit.

In June I was working in Brazil on a conservation feature doc for Keo Films’ on the global water crisis. A fascinating and scary insight into what potentially lies ahead if we carry on.

The Serengeti Rules - A film I worked on for Passion Pictures is going to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival. You can see the trailer here; www.theserengetirules.com

In February I headed off to Australia for a 7 week shoot for "The Magical Land of Oz" an Attenborough series for BBC, ABC, PBS.

2017

Well 2017 was packed, I filmed in 15 different countries for 18 different productions! I look forward to seeing what 2018 has in store. There are a few exciting plans in the pipeline already.

In December I went to Montana for Offspring's Big Beasts filming Patrick Aryee up close with a grizzly bear, a great end to a very busy year.

In October I went to Romania to film chamois, then I was in Russia for a feature documentary through to November and another chilly one in Northern Norway at the end of November.

In September I was in Australia, working on a new Attenborough series for BBC, ABC and PBS on Australia's unique wildlife.

In July and August I spent 3 weeks in the Pantanal filming jaguars for Ammonite's Age of Big Cats series. It was a great shoot and I was lucky to have some great sightings and get perhaps a little too close to these beautiful cats.

At the beginning of July I was in Thailand filming tool using macaques for Earth Live for the National Geographic channel, they performed brilliantly for us and showed up in time for the live broadcast - just!

In June and into July I was in the States. I started off in Pennsylvania filming fireflies for Nutopia's One Strange Rock and then flew up to Alaska and out to Adak, a remote island in the Aleutians chain to film scientist Jim Estes and the sea otters for Passion Pictures feature documentary Serengeti Rules.

At the end of May, into June I was in Turkey filming bears for BBC's Animals with Cameras, presented by Gordon Buchanan. We managed to put cameras on a number of bears and also film them on the Selex thermal camera.

In May I was in Peru filming a promo for a new series for True to Nature, Wendy Darke's production company.

In April I was in California filming for Silverback's Netflix series; Our Planet. It was all shot using a Ronin mounted either on a cable dolly, a jib or a vehicle.

In April I was also working on another Natural World for Mike Birkhead, filming both natural history and PTCs with David Attenborough.

I have completed a drone training course and I am now writing up my Ops Manual for my commercial license.

“Birds of Paradise: The Ultimate Quest”, which I worked on last year aired on BBC2 in February, following Frank Gardner and Benedict Allen in search of Birds of Paradise.

In February I was up in the Cairngorms filming golden eagles for Plimsoll's Hostile Planet series.

Earlier this year I went to the Harz mountains in Germany to film Eurasian lynx for a feature documentary.

At the end of last year, I  spent 4 weeks filming in Argentina, covering orcas taking elephant seal pups, mating tarantulas, and penguins hatching.

2016

Last year, I worked on a feature documentary "Serengeti Rules" for Passion Pictures in Manu NP, Peru, filming ecologist John Terborgh at his study site in the rainforest. To give a sense of place we used a cable dolly mounted with an Alexa Mini on a Ronin and also handheld Ronin work.
